Common harmless skin growths include skin tags, warts, angiomas – these are easily removed with electrosurgery, CO2 laser or surgical excision. However, the topmost question when a new lump or bump is seen is whether it could be harmful or cancerous. If it is growing rapidly, is not asymmetrical, has uneven pigmentation within it or itches or bleeds on its own, do consult a dermatologist who will advise on whether a skin biopsy is needed.
