Electrosurgery is a procedure in which the skin is numbed and a small electric needle is used to remove, incise or destroy tissue. It is used to treat the following conditions:

benign skin lesions, such as angiomas, skin tags and seborrhoeic warts
actinic keratoses (AKs), which are premalignant skin lesions
genital warts that result from human papillomavirus (HPV) infection

This is usually performed in the clinic with the administration of numbing creams or local anaesthetic injection.
