Liposonix®

Liposonix®is non-invasive, unlike liposuction and other laser-assisted fat reduction procedures. Anaesthesia is not required, and normal activities can be resumed immediately after the procedure.

Unlike lasers and radiofrequency where the energy is highly absorbed or scattered by the outer layers of the skin, ultrasound can penetrate deeper into the targeted fat layer of the skin without hurting the outer skin and other structures.

Other ultrasound body systems use low intensity, low frequency or unfocussed ultrasound which can require multiple treatments and lead to unpredictable results. The Liposonix® system uses high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) energy to non-invasively destroy targeted subcutaneous fat and deliver uniform, predictable results after a single one-hour treatment.

The average waistline reduction after just a single one-hour treatment is about 1 inch (2.5 cm) – which typically means one dress or pant size, although individual results may vary. Results are typically seen in 8 to 12 weeks (which is the time needed for the body to naturally process the treated fat).

Liposonix is not for everyone. But if you are close to your ideal size and have stubborn, unwanted fat around your waistline you just can't seem to get rid of with diet and exercise, then yes, Liposonix may be for you. The best way to know for sure is to schedule a consultation with a physician. In general, suitable candidates are those who: have at least an inch of fat in the target area, have BMI <30, are in good overall health and have realistic expectations.

Treatment takes typically 1 hour and does not require anaesthesia. After marking the areas to be treated, the treatment handpiece is placed on the targeted areas in turn. During treatment, patients may feel discomfort, cold, prickling, tingling, or warmth. After treatment, patients may experience some discomfort (pain), bruising, redness, and swelling, which are generally described as mild. Normal activities can be resumed immediately.
